Mary Ann is a chair of the technical committee for the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace and served on the expert panel for the three year case study research project of the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
Mary Ann is author of Resolving Workplace Issues, Keeping Well at Work and Mindful Manager, Building Stronger Teams. She is also co-author with Dr. Martin Shain of Preventing Workplace Meltdown: An employer’s guide to providing a psychologically safe workplace and co-author with Leanne Fournier on The Evolution of Workplace Mental Health in Canada: Toward psychological health and safety.
As the principal of Mary Ann Baynton & Associates she provides consulting services to governments, organizations and unions that wish to improve or address issues related to workplace mental health. These services include individual return to work planning, workplace planning for employees with mental health concerns, conflict resolution, and workshops customized to meet the specific needs of the group.
Mary Ann has served as the Program Director for the Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace (the Centre) for over a decade. The Centre is part of the company’s public commitment to help employers of all types, not just its customers, address psychological health and safety in their workplaces. The Centre provides free, practical ideas, and tools to help with the prevention, intervention and management of workplace mental health issue. The Centre also hosts forums and roundtables to discuss issues, support new research, and partner in the creation of new resources.
